She sent toungues wagging with her latest E.P ‘Rosie Coloured Spectacles’ which was critically acclaimed by bloggers across the globe, gaining international radio play for her single ‘My Walls’ and being featured by a collection of Spotify playlisters worldwide. Singer/songwriter Amie Jane Brown is soon to release her next single featuring the mighty Yonatan Collier whilst she is back to her roots in the studio alongside the likes of Bare Noize and DJ Night Shift to cook up something a little bit different. Keep your ears peeled!
Gracing the stage regularly at some of the most iconic venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Mayfair’s Mahiki and the Camden Assembly to name a few, Amie has pulled crowds at Festivals and shows across the globe, sharing the stage with some true music gems such as Chad Smith (Red Hot chili Peppers) and Ace (Skunk Anansie) working with producers Clive Cherry and Pete Freson.She has seen numerous features for a multitude of artists and producers including the release of the legendry Roy Ayres remix ‘Down to the Bone’ on the Narada Jazz label alongside Jamiroquai’s Derrick Mckenzie.
She writes and records with several teams for established artists at labels such as Ostereo and has laid down vocals on releases for Fly Boy Records, featuring on Radio jingles and sing overs worldwide as well as directing a number of Songwriting and recording workshops for up and coming performing artists.
A Lincolnshire lass born and bred, Amie’s early music days were buried in the depths of Tamla Mo-town and Soul, her dad’s influence as a regular at the Wigan Casino All nighters paying homage to the likes of Aretha Franklin and Etta James. Following in her mum’s footsteps starring in the early nineties Memphis Belle film she moved on to study performing arts in London where her school days were spent writing and recording at a North London studio with friends, producers and other artists. Moving on to then begin an enviable background in the UK’s underground house and Drum and Bass scene she recorded vocals on a multitude of dance tracks as well as gaining work experience with both Wall of Sound and Hospital Records labels.
She then joined the live Drum N Bass act Dust 21 which saw numerous radio slots, many gigs across London at legendry venues such as the Rhythm Factory and Bar Rumba, performing alongside the likes of Hazard and Skibadee, and working the festival circuit across the UK and Europe including the main stage at Waveform (UK) and Bevrijdings Festival (Holland).
Later hooking up with Wrongstars Paul Southgate (Unstable Label) to form funk/soul project Crooklyn Static,she gigged and recorded alongside Ashley Slater and Jimmy Screech (Roots Manuva) receiving attention from labels including Norman Cooks (Fatboy Slim) Southern Fried Records and plays on underground stations Kane FM and Groove School Radio.
